When you add a verified payment method (credit/debit card), the rental company places a temporary hold (often called a deposit) on your account. This is a standard security measure to ensure that, if you end your rental with a negative charging balance or unpaid invoices, those costs can be covered.
Why a deposit is collected
Security for the rental company. It protects against unpaid charging sessions.
A smooth start for you. Once the deposit is in place, you can begin charging without interruption.
What you need to know
|
|
Amount | Determined by the rental company. You’ll see the amount before confirming. |
Timing | Held immediately after your payment method is confirmed. |
Usage | Only used if you have unpaid charging invoices at the end of the rental. |
Release | Eligible for return at least 2 to 5 days after your rental ends, depending on your bank’s processing time. |
Visibility | Track the deposit anytime under > Profile › Payment & Billing > EV charging deposit in the Bluedot app. |
Conditions for Deposit Release
The deposit will not be released if there are any unpaid invoices on your account. These must be paid in full before the deposit is returned.
If there is an active or faulty charging session with an unresolved invoice, the deposit will remain on hold until the issue is resolved.
The deposit cannot be partially returned while any balance or invoice remains unpaid.
What happens after your rental ends?
Your charging activity and invoices are reviewed.
If there are no unpaid invoices or active issues, the deposit is released—usually within 2 to 5 business days.
If there are unpaid invoices, the deposit is held until those are paid in full.
You’ll be notified by push and email once the deposit is released or if further action is required.
How can I pay the deposit?
Once your rental is activated, the system will automatically prompt you to pay the required deposit. You can also manually check or pay the deposit anytime by:
Tapping the Profile tab in the app
Selecting Payment and Billing
Tapping on EV Charging Deposit
Here you can view the status of your deposit, see if a hold is active, and take any necessary actions if a deposit is still required.
