Creating a Rule in Outlook
These instructions are for the web based Outlook, not the desktop application.
First, click on the 'Settings' icon in the top right corner.
Then click on 'View All Outlook Settings'.
You will see a large pop-up box that includes all the settings for Outlook.
Next, select 'Mail' and then 'Rules'. Then you will click on 'Add new rule'.
You will need to name your rule. In our example we named it 'Boatyard Emails'.
You will then click on the drop-down menu for 'Add a condition'. Please select the 'From' option. This will allow you to filter the emails based on who has sent them to you.
You will enter the email address marinemax@boatyard.com in the email field.
Next, click on the 'Add another condition' link.
You will then select the 'Subject Includes' option. And enter new order in the box.
This will allow you to filter only the new order notification emails.
You have now set up which kind of emails will be filtered. The next step is to decide what will happen to those emails.
We recommend that you set the emails to be automatically sent to your archive folder. This means that they will not appear in your inbox, but you can still search for them and view them at a later date if needed.
In the 'Add an Action' section, click 'Move to'.
Next, click on 'Archive' as the folder that you would like to send the emails to.
Your finished rule should look like this:
You can then click the 'Save' button and any future Boatyard new order notification emails will automatically be sent to your Archive folder.
