A small number of offices have reported a wireless mouse or keyboard losing connection while Bola is active. There is no known Bola defect that disconnects wireless devices. Wireless dropouts like this are usually caused by Windows USB power settings, the wireless receiver's placement, or low batteries. The steps below resolve most of them.

What to try

  1. Move the wireless USB receiver to a different USB port, ideally away from USB 3.0 ports and hubs, which can interfere with 2.4 GHz wireless receivers.

  2. Open Device Manager and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. For each USB Root Hub, right-click, choose Properties, open the Power Management tab, and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

  3. Open Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Expand USB settings and set USB selective suspend setting to Disabled.

  4. Replace or recharge the mouse and keyboard batteries. Low batteries cause intermittent dropouts that are easy to blame on software.

  5. Restart the computer and test again.

Help us confirm whether Bola is involved

If the dropouts continue, test for a while with Bola closed. If they stop only when Bola is closed, contact support and include:

  • Your Session ID (shown at the bottom of the Bola Voice window during or right after a session)

  • Your microphone model and how it connects (USB or Bluetooth)

  • Whether the mouse and keyboard receiver plugs into the PC directly or into a dock or hub
