This guide walks you through how to download, install, and set up the Bola Voice desktop app on a Windows computer, then register your license key. The desktop app is what connects Bola Voice to desktop practice management systems such as Open Dental, Dentrix, and Eaglesoft, so you can chart perio and dictate clinical notes by voice.

Before you begin: have your Bola license key ready (provided during onboarding) and make sure you are installing on a Windows PC.

Step 1: Download the Bola Voice desktop app

Go to https://bola.ai/install-desktop-app/ and click to start the download.

Step 2: Run the installer

Open the downloaded file once it finishes. Windows may show a "Windows protected your PC" message. Click More info, then click Run anyway to continue. This is expected, and the app is safe to install.

Step 3: Register your license key

Paste your license key into the license key field, check the box to agree to the Bola AI Terms of Use, then click Register. You will be taken to the Bola Voice Assistant home page.

Step 4: Installation complete

That is it. The Bola Voice desktop app is now installed and ready to use. Open your EHR and the Bola Voice app side by side to start charting by voice.

Running into trouble? If the download or install is blocked by antivirus, a firewall, or Windows security, see Bola Voice - Resolve Antivirus/Firewall Related Issues. If you hit an error during the install itself, see Troubleshooting the Bola Desktop App Installation. You can also reply here and our team will help.
