Templates are a great way to quickly get started creating a book, or to get inspiration for new ways to use Book Creator with your students.

How to add a page template

To add a page template, click the + button in the toolbar, choose Media then Templates.

Here you'll find hundreds of templates to choose from. You can either browse the categories or use the search bar at the top and search using keywords.

Note: Page templates are designed to fit landscape books. To fit them to square or portrait books, unlock items on the page using the inspector button (i), and then rearrange them on the page.

What sort of templates are available?

There are over 800 template pages for every grade and content area. Each of our categories includes subcategories for easy-to-find pages to add to any project or lesson.

The categories include:

  • Graphic organizers. Essential tools for planning and organizing information, making it easier for students to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving.

  • Portfolios. Ideal for showcasing student work and tracking progress, helping educators assess growth and understanding.

  • Layouts. Comprehensive designs to help structure and complete books, ensuring a polished and professional presentation.

  • Comics. Perfect for bringing stories to life with engaging visual elements, encouraging creativity while reinforcing narrative skills. Read more about creating comic books here.

  • Genres. Tailored templates for specific types of publications and projects, ensuring content is both relevant and educational.

  • Themes. Diverse design themes to suit various styles and topics, making it easy to align the visual presentation with the subject matter.

The full range of templates are available to teachers and students on the premium plan. Users on the free plan are able to use a limited number of templates, simply search "free" or click on the Free to me category in Templates.

Creating a new book using a template

Instead of adding individual page templates, you can also select a book template when you create a new book. This creates a styled book in the same theme or genre, with the option to add more pages within the same theme when you add more pages.
