Creating a custom Field & Field Types Explained

Create custom fields in Boostlingo and understand every field type, from checkboxes and radio buttons to text fields, for use in policies.

Written by Quinn Bott

Custom fields are created by admins and can be reused across the Boostlingo platform in different policies. This article covers creating a field and explains each field type.

Create a custom field

As an LSC administrator:

  1. Navigate to Configuration>Company>Customize>Custom Forms and Fields>Fields.

  2. Select Create Field.

  3. In the pop-up, select the field type. Each type asks for different information; required inputs are marked with a red asterisk.

  4. Complete the required inputs and select Create Field.

Once created, your field can be added to Pre-call, Appointment, Appointment: Training, Interpreter Profile, Requester Profile, and Account Profile policies.

Field types

  • Checkboxes — Select any number of options. Best when more than one option may apply and there are fewer than five options. Example: a short list of certifications. Available on all forms and profile policies.

  • Key Value Pair (single choice) — Only available for pre-call policies and only included in the IVR call flow. The call won’t connect without a successful numeric key entry, so it’s mainly used for added security and tracking on IVR calls. The key must be numeric; values can include text. Example: agent ID (key) and agent name (value).

  • Radio Buttons — Select only one option. Best when there’s a single selection and fewer than five options. Example: shirt size. Available on all forms and profile policies.

  • Select List (multiple choices) — Select multiple answers; matching options appear as the user types. Best when more than one option may apply and there are five or more options. Example: a large list of certifications. Available on all forms and profile policies.

  • Select List (single choice) — Select one answer; matching options appear as the user types. Best for a single selection among five or more options. Example: choosing a department from a long list. Available on all forms and profile policies.

  • Text Field (multi-line) — A large block for free-entry text expected to run more than one line. Example: an “About me” section. Available on all forms and profile policies.

  • Text Field (single line) — A short block for free-entry text expected to be one line. Example: full name. Available on all forms and profile policies.
