What is Bounce Bag Protection?

Written by Zara Lobrin

Bag Protection is not an insurance policy or contract. It is offered at Bounce's discretion and may provide compensation for eligible items that are lost, stolen, or damaged during a Bounce booking.

Bounce may, at its discretion, provide compensation of up to $10,000 per customer for eligible items booked through Bounce, or €10,000 in Europe.

The amount of any compensation depends on the circumstances of the claim, the evidence provided, the item's original value, and its condition and wear and tear.

What do I need to be eligible for Bag Protection?

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a valid Bounce booking and proof of payment.

  • Make the booking through Bounce and follow all in-app instructions.

  • Follow the required drop-off and pickup procedures, including tagging your bags and taking the required photos.

  • Report the loss, theft, or damage to Bounce Support within 24 hours of your scheduled booking end.

  • Provide details about the item, including its condition and value at the time of storage.

  • Provide evidence showing that the loss, theft, or damage occurred during your booking. This may include receipts, photos, videos, police reports, or other supporting documents.

  • Use an approved payment method. Cash payments and other unapproved payment methods are not eligible for Bag Protection.

What does Bag Protection cover?

If your claim is approved, Bounce may compensate you for eligible items that were:

  • Lost

  • Stolen

  • Damaged

Compensation is based on the item's value and condition at the time of the booking. Bounce does not reimburse the cost of replacement items.

Only items that were included in your Bounce booking are eligible.

Take Note: Failure to provide adequate documentation of the requirements listed above will automatically give grounds for a rejection of the claim. Whether or not the evidence provided is to be considered adequate will be decided at Bounce’s sole discretion.

What is not covered?

Bounce is not responsible for costs unrelated to your booking, including:

  • Transportation costs to or from storage locations

  • Additional accommodation or travel expenses

  • Losses caused by inability to access a Partner location

Items not properly handled or safely packaged by the customer are also excluded, including:

  • Vases and fragile glass items

  • Artwork and photographs

  • Liquids

  • Electronic devices (e.g. laptops, phones)

Other important conditions

  • Claims are not covered if you have already received compensation from another insurer or party

  • You must disclose any related insurance communication if requested

  • You may be asked to cooperate with Bounce, Partners, or law enforcement during a claim review

  • Prohibited items listed in our Terms of Service are not eligible for Bag Protection

Safety note

While we take every reasonable step to keep your belongings safe, we recommend not storing valuables such as travel documents, keys, or irreplaceable items.
