Get Started on Bound as a Coach

Learn how to find your program's students, check physicals and documents, and download contact and medical information.

As a coach, you manage your teams from your program in Bound. You can see who registered, check who is cleared to participate, build your rosters, and message athletes and families.

Your athletic director sets you up. You get two invites: a Coach Invite to complete your coach profile and documents, and a second invite that gives you access to your programs in Bound.

Accept Your Coach Invite

  1. Open the Coach Invite email from your school and click Complete Coach Profile.

  2. Log in, or create an account if you don't have one. For help, see Create a Bound Account.

  3. Check the information your school entered, enter your Address, then click Next Step.

  4. On the Documents tab, complete each document your school requires, then click Submit.

Your school reviews your documents and approves your coach profile.

Get Access to Your Programs

Completing your coach profile doesn't give you access to your programs. Your athletic director sends a second invite from your school that chooses which programs you can manage.

  1. Open the Join [School Name] on Bound email and click Join Now.

Your school's dashboard opens with You have successfully accepted the invite!

Note: If you log in and don't see your program, contact your athletic director to check your access.

Find Your Program

  1. Click the jersey icon in the left rail to open Programs.

  2. Find your activity and click Program.

  3. Click Students.

The Students page lists every student in your program, across all of your teams. Keep the filter on All to see your whole program, even after you build rosters.

Note: If an athlete isn't on the list, they may not have started registration for your program.

Check Registrations and Physicals

Check Status and Physicals

Check the Status and Eligibility columns for each student. An athlete needs a CLEARED status before you add them to a roster. For what each status means, see Status on the Program Student Page.

  1. Click Physical Status to sort students by their physical. Click it again to reverse the order.

    • The Physical column shows a clipboard when a physical is uploaded. Click it to see the file name. No clipboard means no physical is uploaded.

    • Physical Status shows whether the physical is approved, such as PENDING APPROVAL, and its expiration date with the days left.

  2. Click Pending to see only the students who aren't cleared yet.

Note: If a student shows PENDING or REJECTED but has a physical uploaded, check with your activities office. The physical may still need approval, or the wrong file may have been uploaded.

Check Required Documents

  1. Click Manage Students -> Document Report.

  2. Review the Documents page. Each document your school requires has its own column. A check mark means the student completed that document, and the physical shows its approval status.

Download Contact and Medical Information

  1. On the Students page, filter the list if you want, such as Pending. The downloads include only the students that match your filters.

  2. Click Manage Students, then choose a download:

    • Download CSV: student details, emergency contact, and guardian names, emails, and phone numbers.

    • Download Medical CSV: insurance, allergies, medications, doctor and dentist, treatment authorization, and emergency contact.

Tip: Keep the medical file with you during the season instead of paper medical cards.

Build Your Rosters

Check with your activities office before you add athletes to a roster.

Add Athletes to a Team

  1. In the program menu, click Teams, then click your team.

  2. Click Roster.

  3. Click Manage Roster -> Manage Athletes.

  4. Turn on Add for each athlete you want on this team. Add only athletes with a CLEARED program status.

  5. Click Save Athletes.

NOTE: Add athletes from the list, not with Add Student. If an athlete you expect isn't on the list, contact your activities office.

Tip: An athlete can be on more than one roster if they compete at more than one level.

Remove an Athlete

  1. Open Manage Roster -> Manage Athletes for the team.

  2. Turn on Remove for the athlete, then click Save Athletes.

    • If the athlete has recorded stats, they're archived so their stats stay. The Archived filter shows them.

Tell your activities office when an athlete leaves your program.

Show or Hide Your Public Roster

  1. On your team's Roster page, click the button next to Manage Roster:

    • Display Public Roster Link: your roster is hidden. Click to show it on your public page.

    • Hide Public Roster Link: your roster is showing. Click to hide it.

Message Your Athletes and Families

  1. In the program menu, click Messenger.

  2. Click Compose.

  3. Choose your recipients: By Team, By Grade, By Status, By Registration, or All.

    • By Team sends to a team's followers, which fill in as you build rosters. Before rosters are set, use By Registration or All.

  4. Under Content, enter a Subject and Body. Add an Action Link or Main Image if you want one.

  5. Choose how the message is delivered. Create Bound Notification and Send Push Notification are always on.

    • Allow Reply to your email: recipients can reply to your email. Turn it off if you don't want replies.

    • Send Email and Send Text Message: turn either off to skip that channel.

  6. Under Send, click Send Message(s), or click Add Send Time to schedule it.

Note: You can't edit a scheduled message after you schedule it.
