Choose a Meet Format and Score Dual Meets

Learn how to choose a meet format, create a dual meet, and score its duals.

Swimming, cross country, track, and wrestling meets have a meet format: Dual, Triangular, Quad, or Invitational. The format decides how the meet counts toward your team's W-L record. You choose it when you create the meet, and you can change it later on the meet's score page.

Note: If a format is missing from Meet Format, your association likely turned it off for the season.

How Meet Formats Work

Dual (two teams): Saved as a head-to-head matchup, scored head to head on the program page, and counts toward the W-L record.

Dual (three or more teams): Each pair of schools gets its own dual. A meet with 3 schools has 3 duals. The duals count toward team records, not the meet's placings.

Triangular or Quad: A Triangular (three teams) or Quad (four teams) counts toward the W-L record from its placings once scored.

Invitational: Scored like any other meet. Your association decides whether Invitational meets count toward team records.

Create a Meet with a Format

  1. Click Events in the left rail, then click Add Event.

  2. Under School Competition Event, click Add Event.

  3. Click + next to your team.

  4. Enter the Event Title.

  5. Choose a format from Meet Format. The note under the dropdown explains each format.

  6. Under Sessions, set the Date, Start Time, and End Time, and click Set Location(s) to choose the location.

  7. Under Participants, use Search for Team to add each school in the meet, then click Create Meet.

    • If you chose Dual with three or more schools, Bound creates one dual per pair of schools. The event's schedule labels the meet Dual Meet with the number of duals (for example, Dual Meet · 3 duals), and each of your team's duals is listed under the meet on your team's schedule.

Score a Dual Meet with Three or More Schools

Post the meet's placings and results as usual, then score each dual.

  1. Click Programs in the left rail, then click Varsity (or the level you need) under your program.

  2. Click the green arrow button on the meet, then click Post Score.

  3. Enter the meet's results, then click Score Duals. The score page lists your team's duals and whether each one is scored.

  4. Enter each school's Score for each dual. Untick Full Team for a school that didn't have enough runners to score.

    • A dual you leave blank isn't posted, so you can come back to it.

  5. Click Save Duals.

To change a meet's format after you create it, choose a new format from Meet Format on the meet's score page.
