If one or more steps are missing from your bundle on the storefront, it usually means the step doesn’t contain any products with available variants. When this happens, Bundle Builder (Zenbox) automatically skips the step to prevent customers from seeing an empty screen.
Common Scenario
You’ve created a 3-step builder, but only 2 steps appear when previewing or viewing it live. This typically happens when the hidden step includes:
Products with no variants
Products that are unpublished, set to draft, or removed from all active sales channels in Shopify
Other Possible Causes
Shopify sync or API delay
Shopify may occasionally delay syncing product data between your admin and the app. In these cases, a step may temporarily appear empty, even if products look fine in your Shopify admin.
This usually resolves automatically after the sync completes, but it’s a good reminder to use stable product setups when possible.
How to Fix This Issue
1. Re-add products with active variants
Check that every product in the step has at least one available variant.
You can also remove and re-add the products manually, then click "Save Step" to refresh the setup.
2. Use a Shopify collection instead of individual products
Using collections is a more reliable and scalable approach.
Create a manual collection in Shopify that includes all valid products for the step, then assign that collection to the step in Bundle Builder (Zenbox).
Why Collections Are More Reliable
Shopify collections automatically pull in eligible products based on rules or manual selections.
When a collection is assigned to a step, Bundle Builder (Zenbox) always uses the most current product data. This helps avoid issues caused by:
Unpublished products
Missing variants
Sync delays
How to Check If Your Products Are Missing Variants
To quickly verify your product setup:
Go to the Shopify Admin > Products
Make sure each product has at least one active, published variant
Confirm that products are available on the Online Store and other relevant sales channels
Note: Draft products used for testing or pre-launch won’t be treated as available. Always publish products and assign them to the appropriate channels before including them in a bundle.
