Using Product Filters for Bundle Steps

Use Product Filters in Zenbox Bundle Builder to help customers quickly find the right products when building their bundles

Updated over 2 months ago

Product Filters Overview

The Product Filters feature in Zenbox Bundle Builder allows you to give customers sorting and filtering tools when they’re choosing products within a bundle step. By enabling these options, customers can quickly find the items they want without scrolling through the entire product list.

This is especially useful for stores with large product catalogs or bundle steps that contain many similar items.

You can find the Product Filters section at the bottom of the Steps tab when editing a bundle step.

Available Filter & Sorting Options

Zenbox Bundle Builder currently offers four filter/sort settings you can enable individually or in combination.

1. Show sort by drop down menu

  • What it does: Lets customers sort products by title or price.

  • Use case example: If a customer wants to see the cheapest items first or browse alphabetically.

2. Show title filter

  • What it does: Adds a search field that allows customers to filter products by their title within the current step.

  • Use case example: If a customer is looking for a specific product by name (e.g., typing “Dark Chocolate”).

3. Show tags filter

  • What it does: Lets customers filter products based on product tags assigned in Shopify. By default, all tags from products in that step will be available for filtering.

  • Additional option: When this checkbox is ticked, a Filter Specific Tags field appears. Here, you can enter only the tags you want to make available for filtering (e.g., Vegan, Sugar-Free, Seasonal). If you leave it blank, all product tags will be shown.

  • Use case example: Filtering chocolates by “Vegan,” “Sugar-Free,” or “Seasonal” so customers can easily find the type they want.

4. Show collections filter

  • What it does: Lets customers filter products by Shopify collections. By default, all collections assigned to products in that step will be available for filtering.

  • Additional option: When this checkbox is ticked, a Filter Specific Collections selector appears. Here, you can choose only the collections you want to make available for filtering. If you don’t select any, all relevant collections will be shown.

  • Use case example: Organizing products into “Holiday Specials,” “Gift Sets,” or “Clearance” so customers can easily narrow down their choices.

How to Enable Product Filters

  1. In Zenbox Bundle Builder, open your bundle for editing.

  2. Go to the Steps tab and select the step where you want filters to appear.

  3. Scroll down to the Product Filters section.

  4. Tick the checkboxes for the filters you want to enable:

    • Show sort by drop down menu

    • Show title filter

    • Show tags filter

    • Show collections filter

  5. Click Save Step.

Best Practices

  • Use descriptive tags and collections in Shopify

This ensures filters are clear and meaningful for customers. Avoid overly generic terms like “Misc” or “General.”

  • Narrow filters for better navigation

Use the Filter Specific Tags or Filter Specific Collections options to show only the most relevant filter choices for that bundle step. This reduces clutter and makes it easier for customers to decide.

  • Combine filters strategically

For example, enable both tags filter and sort by drop down so customers can filter by category and then sort by price or title.

  • Test on your storefront

Preview your bundle to confirm filters appear as intended and provide the expected results before going live.

Limitations

  • Filters apply only to the specific bundle step where they are enabled.

  • Tags and collections must be set up in Shopify before they can be used for filtering.

  • The title filter works only on product titles, not on tags or descriptions.

  • If you use Filter Specific Tags or Filter Specific Collections, only those selected will appear in the dropdown. Leaving them blank will show all available tags or collections for that step.
