Asset Categories

Categories make locating similar assets easy.

Updated over a year ago

Categories are used to organize assets across all of your brand cards. For example, you can assign a brand asset to a category called “Order Forms” and then use the filter to view all of that brand’s order forms.
But, categories also work across all brand cards. This means that if you filter all of your assets by category you can see all assets assigned the “Order Forms” category.

How asset categories help your workflow

Categories make locating similar assets easy. This is beneficial when it's time to locate all similar assets that you need to work with.

From the Assets dashboard, click on the filter and select a category. This will return all the assets associated with that category.

An example of viewing assets using categories could be locating all product image assets to view as you are preparing to create your orders for an upcoming season. If you have workspaces associated to your assets you can also filter workspaces with categories to view just those specific image assets within the same category and workspace.

How to assign categories to an asset

To assign a category to an asset, first you have to click on the asset row action menu to edit the asset. Next, type in the category you would associate the asset to. If you have existing categories you'll see them listed to choose from.

To assign a category to many assets all at one time you can use the multi-select option. Select the assets that you would like to assign a category to, click on the actions button, choose edit, and then type in a category or select a category from an existing category.
