You can add someone to a booking—even if they don’t have an email address. This is common for spouses, friends, or other guests who don’t use email. To do this, you’ll need to disable the default setting that requires an email address for every client.
This article shows you how to turn off that setting so you can add non-email guests to bookings.
When You Might Need This
Brindlechute asks for an email address for the main booking client, but additional guests may not have one. For example:
A spouse or family member who shares the main email
A friend or group member who doesn’t wish to receive booking emails
To allow for these cases, you can disable the “email required” setting in your Client Settings.
For minors — guests under 18 — you don’t need to turn off the email requirement. Turn on Allow adding minors as trip participants in Client settings instead, and mark the client as a minor when adding them; their email is optional automatically. See How to Allow Minors as Trip Participants.
How to Disable the Email Requirement
Go to Your Settings
Click your Outfitter Logo in the top-left corner
From the dropdown, select Settings
Open Client Settings
In the top menu, click Client Settings
Toggle Off the Email Requirement
In the Client contacts section, find the toggle labeled Client email are required to be collected
Turn this off to allow adding clients without an email address
Once this is disabled, you’ll be able to add guests to any booking without needing an email for them.
If a Client Can’t Provide an Email
If a client doesn’t have an email address — or can’t provide one — you can still send their invoice or booking confirmation by text message instead, using the SMS template tab in the send window.
See How to Send an Invoice or Confirmation via SMS Instead of Email for the full steps and what needs to be set up first.
Why This Is Useful
Disabling the email requirement is ideal for:
Group trips with one main point of contact
Clients who prefer not to provide an email for each guest
This gives you flexibility to fully build out guest lists without running into technical blockers.
Note: Automated payment reminders are sent by email only, so a client with no email address on file won’t receive them.
