How to Send an Invoice or Confirmation via SMS Instead of Email

If a client doesn't have an email address or can't provide one, you can send their invoice or booking confirmation by text message instead.

If a client doesn’t have an email address — or can’t provide one — you can send their invoice or booking confirmation by text message instead. The client gets a link to view and pay their invoice, the same one they’d receive by email.

Before You Send

Two things need to be true for the text to arrive:

  • SMS must be enabled for that notification in your settings. If it isn’t, the SMS template tab won’t appear at all. See Set up SMS notifications.

  • The client needs a phone number on file with SMS subscription checked. Open the client, click Edit, add their phone number, and tick SMS subscription. If the box isn’t checked, the send completes without an error but no text is delivered. See Consent for SMS Notifications.

When Creating a New Booking

  1. Fill out the booking details — client, dates, number of people, experiences — then click Save in the top right.

  2. In the What would you like to do next? window, choose Send invoice, then click Next.

  3. Choose either Confirm & send invoice to client or Send invoice only (confirmation if deposit paid), then click Next.

  4. The Send invoice and confirm booking window opens. Switch from the Email template tab to the SMS template tab.

  5. The client’s phone number appears under Sent to, and you can edit the message text if you’d like.

  6. Click Confirm and send invoice.

For a Draft Booking

If you saved the booking as a draft, open it and scroll down to Payments Due. Click Send invoice and confirm — the same send window opens, where you can switch to the SMS template tab.

For a Confirmed Booking

Open the booking and scroll down to Payments Due. Click the arrow next to View invoice and choose Resend confirmation. In the Confirm booking and send confirmation window, switch to the SMS template tab and click Confirm booking.

If You’d Rather Send It Yourself

Copy invoice link is in that same menu next to View invoice. Paste the link into your own text message or messaging app — this works regardless of your SMS settings or the client’s consent status.

A Note on Payment Reminders

Automated payment reminders are sent by email only. A client with no email address on file won’t receive them, so you’ll need to follow up by text yourself using Copy invoice link.
