Every guide payout starts with a base pay rate set for the trip or experience. As an outfitter, when additional compensation is needed — such as overnight trips, meal provisions, or performance bonuses — you can use custom fields on the Guide Report to automatically factor extra pay into a guide's payout. This article walks through how to set that up.
Putting It Into Practice
Custom pay fields apply to the guide report template for all trips. Guides can't edit a guide report after submitting it — contact your outfitter or our support team for assistance.
Example 1: Adding a Shuttle/Fuel Cost Reimbursement
Say you want to reimburse guides for any shuttle or fuel expenses they cover during a trip.
Here's how to set that up:
Go to Guides, then click Modify Guide Report in the top-right corner.
Add a new Monetary field.
Set the Field label to Shuttle / Vehicle Fuel Cost.
Set the Question to display in report to How much did you spend on shuttle or fuel?
Enable the Included in guide pay toggle.
Click Save to update guide report.
When the guide enters the amount they spent on shuttle or fuel, that exact dollar amount is added to their payout.
Example 2: Adding an Overnight Trip Bonus
Say you want to pay your guides an additional $50 for every overnight trip they complete.
Here's how to set that up:
Add a new Checkbox field.
Set the Field label to Overnight Trip.
Set the Question to display in report to Was this an overnight trip?
Enable the Included in guide pay toggle.
Set the pay amount as a fixed dollar amount or percentage of the base pay.
Click Save to update guide report.
When the guide checks the Overnight Trip box on their report, $50 is automatically added to their payout on top of their base pay.
How It Appears in Guide Payments
Each custom field included in the guide report will appear as a separate column item in the guide's payment breakdown.
