Brindlechute has two different ways to collect information from clients using questionnaires. They work differently and are set up in different places, so it helps to know which one fits what you're trying to do.
Experience Questionnaires
Experience questionnaires are attached directly to a specific experience. Once a booking is confirmed, the questionnaire automatically appears in the client's portal and itinerary for them to complete before their trip.
This is the right option when you want to collect information that's specific to a particular type of trip — like skill level, gear preferences, dietary needs, or special requests.
Each experience can have its own required or optional questionnaire, so different trips can ask different questions.
Who receives it: The questionnaire is sent to the booking client and all attending guests once they are added to the trip. If you allow minors as trip participants, the questionnaire's Age group setting in Product Settings controls which participants it's required for — a questionnaire tagged Adult won't create a task for a minor. See How to Allow Minors as Trip Participants.
Pre-Confirmation Tasks (Questionnaire)
Pre-confirmation tasks require clients to complete a questionnaire before they can submit payment. This applies across all experiences — it's not specific to one trip type.
This is the right option when there's something every client needs to complete before their booking is finalized — like a general waiver, a fitness acknowledgment, or a key piece of information you always need upfront.
Clients will be prompted to complete the task when they open their invoice or check out through your online booking portal. Payment is blocked until it's done.
Who receives it: Only the booking client is required to complete this — it is not sent to attending guests.
Which One Should I Use?
Need to ask questions specific to one type of trip? → Experience Questionnaire
Need every client to complete something before paying, regardless of the trip? → Pre-Confirmation Task (Questionnaire)
Need both? You can use them together.
Note: Before using either option, make sure your questionnaire has already been created under Product Settings → Questionnaires. Both features pull from the same questionnaire library.
