Automatic fields are placeholders you drop into a subject line or message. When the message goes out, Brindlechute replaces each one with the real value for that booking — the client's first name, your phone number, the trip start date.
In the editor they appear as labeled chips, so you can see at a glance what each one will become.
Where you can use them
Notification templates — go to Organization settings → Notifications, then click Edit template on any notification. Fields are available on both the Email template and SMS template tabs.
When you send a message from a booking — for example, when sending an invoice, the same Add automatic fields option appears above the subject and message.
Add an automatic field
Click Add automatic fields above the Subject or Message, or type / where you want the field to go.
Browse All automatic fields, or switch to Unused fields to see only the ones you haven't added yet.
Hover over a field to see an example of what it will look like.
Click the field to insert it at your cursor.
Fields already in your message are marked with a checkmark. To remove a field, put your cursor after it and press backspace.
What's available
Fields are grouped by what they describe — your organization, the client, and the booking. The list is scoped to the message you're editing, so you're only offered fields that message can fill in.
You'll see two sets of client fields. booking.client always refers to the client the booking is under. client refers to whoever the message is going to. On most messages — a booking confirmation, an invoice — those are the same person. They differ on messages that send separately to each participant, like pre-trip reminders and post-trip follow-ups: there, client is the individual recipient while booking.client stays the person who made the booking.
If a field has no value to fill in — a booking with no manager assigned, for example — it renders blank. The message still sends.
