By default, credit you refund into a client's wallet never expires. If you want refunded credit to be used within a set time, you can make it expire after a number of days. This is useful when you offer wallet credit instead of a refund and want the client to rebook within a season.
How to set wallet refunds to expire
Click your organization name at the top of the left sidebar, then click Accepted payments.
Scroll to the Wallet row under the payment methods.
Check Expire refunds into a wallet.
Enter the number of days in Expire refunds into a wallet after [ ] days.
Click Update at the bottom of the page.
After you set an expiry
Each refund into a wallet made after you save gets an expiry date. You can see it in the Expires column on the client's Wallet tab.
When the credit expires, whatever is still unspent is taken out of the wallet. The wallet history shows a new line for the amount that expired, marked Unused refund credit, with the remaining balance after it.
To turn expiry off again, uncheck Expire refunds into a wallet and click Update. Refunds made after that never expire.
Good to know
Only refunds expire. Credit from top-ups and credit you issue never expires, whatever the expiry setting.
Existing credit keeps its expiry. The setting applies only to refunds made after you save. Credit already in a wallet keeps the expiry it had when it was refunded, even if you change or turn off the setting.
Only the unspent part expires. If the client has already used some of the refunded credit, only what's left is taken out when it expires.
Reversed wallet payments don't expire. If you reverse a charge that was paid from a wallet, the credit goes back into the wallet without an expiry.
The Wallet toggle can't be changed here. The wallet is on for every account. To turn it off, contact Brindlechute support.
