Every client has a wallet that holds store credit with your business. Credit can come from a payment, a gift card, credit you issue, or a refund. You or your client can then use it to pay for bookings.
Where to see a client's wallet
Click Clients in the left sidebar, then click the client.
The Wallet card at the top of the profile shows the client's current balance.
Click the Wallet tab to see the Current balance and a timeline of every change to it.
The timeline groups wallet activity by date. Each entry shows what it was, such as Refund credits, along with the amount, its status and time, an expiry date if it has one, and the balance remaining after it.
Click View detail on an entry to open its transaction detail page, with the client charged, payment method, description, and financial breakdown. Click View booking to open the booking the entry came from.
How credit gets into a wallet
Top up: the client pays into the wallet by card, bank account, or an offline payment, or loads credit from a gift card. See How to Top Up a Client's Wallet.
Issue credit: you add credit without a payment, for example as a goodwill gesture. See How to Issue Wallet Credit.
Refund into the wallet: you refund a booking as wallet credit instead of back to the original payment method. See How to Refund into a Client's Wallet.
How credit is spent
You can pay a booking from the client's wallet when you collect a payment, and clients can pay from their wallet on their invoice. See How to Pay for a Booking with Wallet Credit.
To take credit out of a wallet without paying anything back to the client, see How to Remove Wallet Credit.
Good to know
Wallet credit can't be cashed out. Credit can only be spent on bookings with your business. Removing credit doesn't send money back to the client.
The wallet must cover the payment. If the wallet holds less than the amount being charged, the payment can't be confirmed. You can use Partial payment to take what the wallet can cover, then collect the rest another way.
Wallet payments can't be scheduled. Wallet isn't available with payment plans that schedule future payments.
Refunded credit can expire. By default, credit refunded into a wallet never expires. You can set it to expire after a number of days. See How to Set Wallet Refunds to Expire.
Find wallet payments on the Payments page. Filter Payment Type by Wallet to see every payment made from or refunded into a wallet.
Clients are notified about wallet activity. Clients receive a Wallet Top-Up Receipt when a top-up goes through, a Wallet Top-Up Failed email when a top-up payment doesn't go through, and a Wallet Refund Notification when a refund goes into their wallet. See Explaining each Client Notification in Brindlechute.
The wallet is on for every account. To turn it off for your account, contact Brindlechute support.
The wallet gives clients a simple way to hold credit with you, whether it's a refund, a goodwill credit, or money they've added for a future trip.
