Your existing lists haven't moved — Segments is what used to be called Smartlists in the old Back Office. The clients they contain, and how you create them, work the same as before.
Campaigns let you send a message to a segment of clients — by email, SMS, push notification or pop-up — and track its performance, without leaving the send journey. This article is for studio managers who send marketing or engagement messages from the new Back Office.
Before you start
You need a segment to send your campaign. You can use a predefined segment provided by bsport, or create a custom segment using filters. Both are found in Segments.
Steps
Step 1 — Open the segment to send to
Go to Segments and select the segment you want to send your campaign to.
Step 2 — Start the campaign
Go to the Campaigns tab, then select Create a campaign.
Step 3 — Choose a channel, then send or schedule the send
Choose a channel — email, SMS, push notification or pop-up. Then select Send to send now, or Schedule to set a date and time.
Note: pop-up campaigns can't yet be sent to predefined segments. Use a custom segment to send a pop-up campaign.
Step 4 — Create your email
For an email campaign, the editor opens in a modal window, so you stay within the campaign creation journey. Enter your subject line and content — you can start from a saved template or build your email from scratch. (In the old Back Office, templates had to be created first on a separate page.)
When you save an email you've edited from a template, choose how your changes should be kept:
Use the template for this campaign only — your changes apply only to this campaign. The saved template stays unchanged, so anyone who uses it afterwards will see the original version.
Save as new template — your edited version is saved as a separate new template. The original stays intact and you can reuse the new template in future campaigns.
Update existing template — your changes replace the original template. Any future campaign that uses it will start from your edited version.
Note: the "Update existing template" option replaces the saved template everywhere it's used. To keep the original, choose "Save as new template" instead.
Step 5 — Check performance
Once your campaign has been sent, open Campaign details to see its results.
Note: Campaign details shows open rate and click rate. Business outcome metrics such as rebookings and reactivation aren't available yet, and you can't retarget non-openers directly from these metrics.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create my email before starting the campaign?
No. You can create and save your email while creating the campaign — no separate step is needed beforehand.
Where do scheduled and automated campaigns live?
Both are found in Campaigns, organised by segment. Segmentation, sending a campaign, and setting up an automation are now separate steps, which makes it clearer where to go for each one.
Fewer people received my message than my segment shows. Why?
The number of recipients can differ from your segment size for reasons unrelated to filtering — clients who've opted out of marketing messages, clients without an email address, or aggregator accounts (like ClassPass) that use placeholder email addresses. See the related article on recipient numbers and email deliverability.
