1st Step: Integrate the variables in the template.

  • In Marketing > Create/Modify a Template > Create a text block > Double-click on the text > Select "Merge tags" > Choose a variable.

For a better use of these variables, find the list of variables you can use to integrate them as hyperlinks or buttons. There are therefore two options:

  • Hypertext links: You write a text and then link this text to a variable using the {example_example} format.

  • Button: You add a button and add the variable and button parameters. On the right-hand side of your screen you'll find the button parameters. Under Action > URL, add the variable to activate the button and link it to the action.

2nd Step: Understand the use of variables.

  • The following variables are very important when writing an email.

In order to personalise your templates, you just have to put a variable, for example {firstname}, so that it identifies the customer in the database and replaces the tag with the customer's first name automatically.

Warning: in case of spelling mistakes or punctuation errors, the automatic replacement rule will not work.
Warning bis: Do not forget to add { }.

  • Variables can also be used in the title of the email.

  • Take into count that not all variables can be used with just any transactional email/marketing notifications. Each variable has a specific purpose: a variable will therefore have to be added to the right email for it to work.

→ Here is a page that will list all the variables that can be used specifically for each transactional notification and marketing notification. For the list of variables click here.
