Change the login email of your members

In this article you will learn the conditions to change the login email of your members.

It sometimes happens that the email of connection of a member is erroneous, or that your member wishes to change its old email of connection.

The login email of your members is a sensitive data. This identifier allows them to access their account which contains confidential information such as invoices, means of payment but also personal information (name, first name, age ...). It is therefore legally forbidden to change the connection email of your members without their prior consent.

To make sure of the protection of the data of connection of your members, the Bsport platform has a system of validation of change of email.

Case 1: To change the email of a member

To change the email of a member, look for your member in the search bar then click on the wanted member to reach his member card.

Once on the member's file, click on modify.

In the email address field, enter the new address and click on "save".

An information message appears. To start the process of changing the email address click on confirm. Once this is done, we will send a validation email to the old email address and to the new one.

This email contains a link allowing the member to validate the email change. The member can :

  • Accept the change request: the new email address will now be its login email

  • Refuse the change request: the member will keep its old login email

Note: There is no need to validate both email addresses to accept the change of connection address. Only one validation is sufficient.

⚠️ The member keeps its old email address during the whole validation process. It will only be changed if the new address is validated.

The member has 7 days from the request email change to validate the new address. Beyond this period the request will be null and void. ⚠️

Case 2: The new address is that of a member of your club

If you change your member's email address to that of an existing member of your club, you will be warned at registration time that you are attempting to merge two members.

By accepting the merger, the member with the new email address will get all the invoices, reservations, balance and purchases of the other member. The member with the old address will be deleted.

An information email will be sent to both addresses to notify them of the merger of the members.

Case 3: The new address is that of a member in another club

If you change your member's email address to that of an existing member in another club, at check-in you will be notified that you are attempting to link two members.

To start the process of changing the login email click on confirm. Once this is done, we will send a validation email to the old email address as well as to the new one.

  • Email sent to the old address:

    • This email is used to notify the member that a merge procedure of its account is in progress. With this email they can only refuse the merging of the accounts.

    • If the member wants to accept the process of merging the accounts they must go to its new email address.

  • Email sent to the new address:

    • With this email the member will be able to accept or decline the account merge request.

Note: Once the request is denied for one of the accounts the merge procedure ends. Attempting to accept the request after that will not work. Conversely if the merge request is accepted.

⚠️ The member keeps its old email address during the whole validation process. It will only be changed if the merger is validated.

The member has 7 days from the merge request to validate the new address. After this period the request will be null and void. ⚠️
