How sitters receive and make the most of handpicked requests

Updated this week

Handpicked requests are ways parents can invite specific sitters to apply for a request, while allowing others to still apply. This way they are likely to get speed of responses while ensuring sitters they already know or like the profile of are notified if they're available.

If you have been sent a "handpicked" request consider this a hot lead and one you have a good chance of being confirmed on if you respond fairly quickly.

How do I see handpicked requests?

If you have been handpicked to apply for a request you can either click on the link directly from your email notification or push notification and it will take you to the booking.

Alternatively, it will appear in the handpicked section at the top of your requests page just below Direct Requests. Parents can specify sitters for single and repeat bookings, so be sure to check both tabs.

If you can't see the requests, expand your filters or click directly on the link from your email. If the parent has already confirmed another sitter you will be told it no longer exists.

How did parents find me to request me?

Parents may have handpicked you because you're one of their favourite sitters they've worked with already, or they have found your profile in a list, and think you'd be a great fit.

How do I apply?

A handpicked request is basically a formal invitation to apply for a request. The process of doing so is the same as any other request, click "Apply" on the request if you are keen. It might be nice to write a personalised application note the parent since they've explicitly been interested in working with you.

If this is for a repeat booking and you're keen but you can't make all the dates, apply with a counter-offer to start discussing what you can do with the parent. They may very well still confirm you and edit the booking.

Our advice is to be really quick responding to these requests, since others are also applying.
