Sitters can receive a combination of push notifications, SMS notifications and emails from Bubble. Push notifications are dependent on their personal device settings.
What will sitters receive from specific parent actions?
Direct request notifications
If parents send one or more sitters a "direct requests" ie. the request isn't visible to other sitters, then we consider these urgent and send SMS, emails and push notifications to the sitter, which take the sitter directly to the request on their app.
Push notifications are sent immediately but are dependent on their device settings.
SMS and emails are sent immediately if the request is created on the same day of the scheduled start time, otherwise we wait 6 hours to send these if the sitter has not responded.
Open request notifications
Sitters who are available for the time and date of your open request within 9 miles are all sent a push notification when you send a request.
When you specifically request a particular sitter but still want others to be able to apply they will be sent a slightly differently worded push notification, an email and will see your request highlighted in "Handpicked" section of their app.
New messages from parents
Parents and sitters both receive push notifications when the other replies in a message. If it is the first message from that sitter in 24 hours, you will also receive an SMS.
