Do parents pay me a cancellation payment?

If a parent cancels a sit with less than 6 hours’ notice*, a minimum cancellation payment of 50% of the total sit value will automatically be applied and paid to the sitter. They can pay more if they choose, but we want to make sure sitters are paid fairly for their time if cancelled on at short notice.

If a parent cancels with more than 6 hours' notice, parents are not forced to make a cancellation payment to you — however, the app does offer them a very easy way to make a goodwill payment instead.

When designing our cancellation policies, our aim has always been to come up with solutions that will best protect sitters but also ensure we don't implement rules which result in fewer jobs being posted by parents as a result, because that would end up harming the wonderful sitter community we're trying to protect.

The Bubble community thrives when both sides treat each other fairly and with respect. Our job is to provide our customers the tools that makes it super-easy for them to do that, and our cancellation policy is an example of that.

While our role as a marketplace is to connect parents and sitters to each other, allowing them to make informed choices themselves, it's still hugely important to us that the babysitters on our app are treated fairly and have a great experience on Bubble.

Please note, when a parent makes a cancellation (or goodwill) payment to you, Bubble will collect 3.5% of that amount in order to cover the costs of online payment processing and bank transfers.

*This only applies if the parent confirmed the sit more than 1 hour ago. In these cases, parents are still offered the option of paying a goodwill payment.
