I want to be a nanny but I’m not sure how I can get the experience I need!

Updated yesterday

There are a variety of ways you can build up your skills to help you get that first nanny role. Below are a few ideas for how you can start your journey to becoming a professional nanny:

  • Do as many ad hoc sits on Bubble as you can with a variety of age ranges to help build a broader experience and discover which age group you connect with best. This is also a great place to build up your reviews and reputation as a great nanny.

  • Be flexible: try out roles that don't require full responsibility straight away, like helping parents at home, rather than having sole charge

  • Look at Bubble's Repeat section on the app - often parents looking for after school help or shorter, regular support are more flexible with their requirements. You can see and apply for these roles in the Repeat bookings tab found on the homepage of the sitter app.

  • Volunteer for local play schools, summer camps or other groups aimed at children

  • Get qualified: Gain an Early Years childcare qualification or a Paediatric First Aid certificate

  • Build your childcare experience through working at a nursery
