The instructions below pertain to those BuildTools systems that have their sync settings set to Projects = Customer Job. Meaning that in QuickBooks there are customers and indented beneath those customers there are jobs/projects.

Below we'll explain how you can create a new project in BuildTools if the customer already exists in QuickBooks, and also how to proceed if the customer has yet to be created in QuickBooks.

Existing Customers

For existing QuickBooks customers, create the new project in BuildTools first and choose the existing customer from the drop-down

New Customers

For new QuickBooks customers that are not on the drop-down list as shown above, create the customer in QuickBooks first

Then go back to BuildTools and via the Accounting module go to Projects and click to refresh the remote list

Note: if using QuickBooks Desktop please run WebConnector after this step

Now proceed to create the new project in BuildTools and you will be able to select the new customer for that project

Back in QuickBooks you will now see your new project nested beneath that customer
