Introduction
In Malaysia’s e-Invoicing system, every individual and business must be identified using a Tax Identification Number (TIN). For companies, you’ll also need the Business Registration Number (BRN).
If you don’t know your TIN or BRN, don’t worry — this guide shows you step-by-step how to search and verify both using the MyTax portal and publicly available resources like CTOS.
What Is TIN and BRN?
TIN (Tax Identification Number): A unique number assigned to individuals and businesses for tax purposes by LHDN (Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia).
BRN (Business Registration Number): A company registration number issued by SSM (Companies Commission of Malaysia), required to identify companies in e-Invoicing.
