Adding a camera to Cammy

Step 1

Ensure the camera you are trying to add is connected to both Power and Ethernet.

Step 2

Head to the "Settings" area of your Console, then select "Manage cameras".

Step 3

If you use Camera Sets, scroll down to which camera set you wish to add the camera to and select "Add camera".

Step 4

Find the camera you are looking to connect from the list, then select "Add".

Step 5

Enter the camera details and then select "Add camera".

  • Name your camera

  • Confirm the camera set

  • Enter the username and password for the camera, if the camera is already connected to the network. If the camera is not yet set up with the network, the system should automatically generate a new username and password for your camera.

Step 6

Once the camera is connected, choose to add another camera or view your camera in the desktop and mobile apps.

FAQs when adding a camera

❓ My camera is not appearing on the list, what do I do?

When your camera is not appearing on the list it indicates the camera cannot be seen by the system. Please check the below;

  • The camera is connected to power and is powering up as it should be. This can sometimes be shown with IR lights in the lens or power lights somewhere on the camera.

  • The camera is connected to the router via ethernet. Even if your camera is a WiFi camera, the camera will need to be connected directly to the router via ethernet in order to gain an initial connection.

  • Ensure the internet connection you have connected your camera to is the same connection that the PC you have installed Cammy on.

  • Try a different ethernet cable.

If you have tried all of the above and the camera is still not appearing on the list, try adding a different camera to the system to see if you experience the same issue. If the same issue occurs, please open a case with our support team. If a different camera adds to the system without this issue, it would suggest the first camera may be faulty and we would advise you to contact the camera manufacturer for further assistance.

❓ My camera is a WiFi camera, how do I ensure the camera is running on WiFi so I can disconnect the ethernet cable?

After you have completed adding the camera to Cammy, the camera will appear in your camera list within "Manage Cameras".

  1. Find the camera you have just added to your camera list

  2. Select "Edit" next to your camera

  3. Scroll down to WiFi Settings

  4. Select the SSID (WiFi Name) from the drop-down list (Please ensure this is the same network that Cammy is connected to)

  5. Enter the WiFi password (Case sensitively)

  6. Select "Save Changes"

Once your camera has connected to your WiFi, you can then remove the ethernet cable. Sometimes the WiFi can take a little while to connect, so please leave the camera for an hour or so to gain a stable connection before checking your live feed.

If the camera does not connect as it should, please try reconnecting the camera to WiFi once more double checking the WiFi password entered was correct. Please also ensure that there is a strong WiFi signal where the camera is located. If the same issue occurs, please open a case with our support team.

❓ How do I know if my camera is compatible with the Cammy?

Cammy is compatible with most ONVIF camera brands. Our quick and easy installation process is designed to automatically discover any ONVIF-compatible cameras on your local network. Therefore, providing your camera is correctly connected to the same network as your Hub, your camera should automatically appear when selecting the cameras to add. If your camera does not appear on the cameras list, or you are not sure if it meets the compatibility, you can open a case with the support team who will be happy to assist you.

❓ What is a Camera Set?

Camera Sets is a feature that allows you to group cameras together based on factors such as location or alarm rules. By doing this, you can view your cameras in groups, as well as apply rules to them as a group instead of individually. An example of this may be having Indoor and Outdoor cameras at a business or, if you are running two different Cammy locations, you may choose to organize your Camera Sets based on your separate premises.
