How to Add CampusKnot as a Module in Your LMS

Give students direct access to CampusKnot by creating a module inside your learning management system.

Written by Amanda

You can add a CampusKnot link to your LMS course menu, whether you use Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace (D2L), or Moodle. The link gives students a direct path to CampusKnot from the course they already visit every day.

⚠️ This is a navigation link, not a full integration. It does not include grade pass-back or roster syncing. To connect grades and rosters, see How to Set Up the CampusKnot LTI Integration instead.

Canvas LMS:

Step 1 Inside Canvas select the Modules option

Step 2 Click the + (Add item) button for that module

Step 3 In the “Add” dropdown, select External URL

Step 4 Copy and paste your CampusKnot course URL into the URL field

Step 5 Check Load in a new tab (recommended). This prevents issues if Canvas can’t embed the site.

Step 6 Click Add Item.

D2L Brightspace LMS:

Step 1 Select Content on the course navigation bar

Step 2 Select the module or sub-module where the link needs to be added

Step 3 Click on the Upload/Create button

Step 4 From the dropdown menu select Create a Link

Step 5 In the pop-up window enter text for the link in the Title field

Step 6 Copy and paste your CampusKnot course URL into the URL field

Step 7 Select the 'Open as an External Resource' checkbox

Step 8 Select Create.

Blackboard LMS:

Step 1 Go to Courses → open your course.

Step 2 Select Build ContentWeb Link.

Step 3 Enter a Name

Step 4 Copy and paste your CampusKnot course URL

Step 5 Click 'Submit'

Moodle LMS:

Step 1 In a course, with the editing turned on, choose 'External tool' from the activity chooser

Step 2 Give it a name and, if needed, a description

Step 3 Add the tool URL

For more information see External tool settings

Step 4 Save the changes.
