How to add and update Practice Areas

Overview of updating and adding Practice Areas for Firm Staff Members

Practice Areas allow your Firm to pre-configure exactly what clients will see when logging into the Case Status application. This allows a better understanding of your workflow and timing of different stages throughout their case journey.

How to add a new Practice Area

  1. Within Case Status choose the Profile Icon in the top right and choose Settings

  2. In the top left choose Practice Areas

  3. From this page choose + New Practice Area

  4. Select a Practice Area to add

    1. Case Status provides templates of commonly used Practice Areas. You can choose Start with blank stages if you want to start from scratch.

    2. The Practice Area Display Name is what Clients will see.

  5. Add a Practice Area integration mapping

    1. This must match the Matter type or Practice area in your CMS exactly.

    2. You can have multiple Practice Areas in your CMS map to a single Case Status Practice Area.

  6. Once you choose a Practice Area you will configure the Stages

    1. The Stage Display Name is what the Client will see.

    2. You can map multiple stages from your CMS to a single stage within Case status.

How to update an existing Practice Area

  1. Within Case Status choose the Profile Icon in the top right and choose Settings

  2. In the top left choose Practice Areas

  3. On the left hand side choose the Practice Area you wish to edit.

  4. You can edit the Practice Area as a whole by choosing the Edit button in the top right.

    1. Make your adjustments and then choose Update at the bottom.

  5. If you wish to only edit a single stage you can hover your mouse over that stage and an Edit button will appear.

    1. A trashcan icon will also appear. Click that to quick delete a stage as a whole.

    2. Once you make your updates choose Save in the top right of the stage window.
