Initial Installation of the Case Status/Litify Integration Package

Setting Up Case Status for Litify

This guide outlines the steps required to configure your Litify-based Salesforce instance for the Case Status integration. By following this workflow, your firm will enable real-time messaging, automated sentiment tracking, and advanced NPS reporting directly within your Matter records.

1. Establishing Access

To begin the implementation, your Case Status implementation manager will need access to your Litify environment. We recommend a Sandbox-first approach if available, to ensure testing can be completed without impacting real client data:

  • Optimal Setup (Partial Sandbox): Provides a safe environment with test data to verify edge cases and custom workflows.

  • Production Setup: While supported, we recommend this only after initial sandbox verification to prevent premature data syncing.

  • Dedicated User: We recommend creating a dedicated Integration User for Case Status to ensure a stable and secure connection. While borrowing a login is possible, please be mindful of MFA needs.

2. Package Installation

Your firm will need to install two specific packages. Note: Replace login.salesforce.com with your custom domain (e.g., yourfirm.my.salesforce.com) before clicking the links.

Package

Installation Link

Case Status Core

Managed package containing the Messaging iFrame and Apex actions.

Litify & Intake Extension

Unmanaged package specifically for Litify objects and Intake flows.

Select "Install for Admins Only" when prompted. Installation typically takes 10–20 minutes.

3. Salesforce Configuration

To allow Litify and Case Status to communicate securely, your Salesforce Admin will need to configure an External Client App.

OAuth Settings

  1. Navigate to Setup > External Client App Manager.

  2. Enable OAuth Settings with the following:

    • Callback URL: https://app.casestatus.com/app/salesforce

    • Scopes: api, refresh_token, offline_access.

  3. Secure Credentials: Securely share the Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, and your My Domain URL with your Case Status Implementation Manager. These are required to authenticate the secure handshake.

4. Activating Flows

The integration uses Lightning Flows to power matter sync, and other actions available in the integration. You can toggle these on based on your firm's preferred workflow:

  • Matter Sync: Automatically creates a Case Status record when a Litify Matter is opened.

  • Record NPS: Portals client feedback directly into Litify for historical reporting.

  • Set Last Message Sent: Updates the Matter record in real-time when your team or a client sends a message.

  • In-App & Email Alerts: Triggers notifications for your legal team whenever a client reaches out via the app.

5. iFrame Setup

To give your team a complete view of client communications through the platform, add the Case Status Messaging component to your Matter page layouts.

  1. Navigate to any Matter record and select Edit Page from the Setup cog.

  2. Add a new Custom Tab labeled "Case Status."

  3. Drag the Case Status - Messaging component into this new tab.

  4. Save and Activate. Your team can now message clients directly from the Matter record.

6. Data Migration & Mapping

To ensure your existing Litify data matches Case Status, we will perform a one-time export/import:

  • Practice Areas & Stages: We will export the appropriate fields from your Litify to create the integration to Case Status practice areas and stages

  • Historical Import: Use the provided "Case Status - Cases Import" report to sync your active Matters into the platform. Note that this report pulls standard integration fields, if changes are made to flows to account for alternative fields, please update this report to ensure Case Status received appropriate data
