Creating and Managing Tasks

How to use Chariot tasks to stay on top of your work!

Introducing Tasks in Chariot: Stay on Top of Your Work!

Never miss an important follow-up again! Chariot's Tasks feature helps you keep track of your to-dos, follow-ups, and next steps—whether you're managing a sales pipeline, coordinating a move, or keeping the team aligned.

How Tasks Work

  1. Adding and Editing Tasks

    • Tasks can be created and edited from the Tasks tab of a job's page or directly from the Task Dashboard.

    • Click Add Task, enter a description, assign it to yourself or a team member, and set a due date.

    • Setting a due date and time: When adding or editing a task, you can set both a due date and a specific due time. After selecting the date, use the time picker that appears to choose an exact time (e.g., 2:00 PM). This lets you create time-sensitive tasks — not just day-level deadlines.

  2. Viewing Your Tasks

    • The Task Dashboard (left menu) shows all your tasks.

    • See open tasks (pending) and completed tasks (last 7 days).

    • If you're a manager, you can view tasks across your entire team.

  3. Completing and Managing Tasks

    • Click the checkmark to mark a task as done.

    • Move tasks to the completed section to keep things organized.

    • Click on a task to go directly to the related job.

  4. Task Notifications

    • Get notified when a task is assigned to you.

    • Enable email notifications for extra reminders.

  5. Assigning and Filtering Tasks

    • Filter tasks by assignee (e.g., see all tasks assigned to Zach).

    • Filter by creator to track tasks you've assigned to others.

    • Create tasks directly from the Task Dashboard and link them to a job.

  6. Tracking Overdue Tasks

    • See overdue tasks at a glance in the Task Dashboard.

    • An alert badge highlights overdue or due-today tasks.

    • Stay ahead and clear your backlog with ease!

Controlling Who Sees the Full Task Dashboard

By default, the Task Dashboard shows each user their own tasks. Managers can see all tasks across the team. You can control which user roles have access to the full team-wide Task Dashboard via Settings > By Role.

Make Tasks Work for You

Tasks support automations too — you can set up rules to automatically create and assign tasks based on job activity, lead status, or time-based triggers. See Use Automations to Create and Assign Tasks to learn more.
