Analyze Chariot Reports with External Tools

Export your Chariot reports to analyze your data outside of the Chariot environment.

Updated over a week ago

While Chariot gives you powerful built-in reporting, you can also get even more insights by exporting your data and analyzing it with other tools like Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or even ChatGPT. By downloading your reports as CSV files, you can create custom pivot tables, charts, or summaries tailored exactly to your needs. This helps you answer questions like “Which marketing channels are working best?” or “Where are most of our booked jobs coming from?”—giving you complete control and flexibility over your business data.

Using Google Sheets or Excel

If you want to take a closer look at your Chariot reports, you can open them in Excel or Google Sheets. This is a simple way to sort, filter, and make your own summaries—like seeing which lead sources bring in the most jobs or revenue. Even if you're not a spreadsheet expert, we'll show you step by step how to set up an easy pivot table so you can make sense of your data without any hassle.

A pivot table is an easy way to take a big list of jobs or leads and quickly summarize it to see what’s going on in your business.

Think of it like this: Instead of looking at hundreds of rows of jobs one by one, a pivot table lets you automatically add them up or count them by category. It’s like making a custom report without needing to do any math yourself. You just tell it what you want to see, and it does the work—so you can make better decisions about marketing, sales, and operations.

Step 1: Import Your CSV File

  1. Open Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.

  2. Click File > Import.

  3. Select the Upload tab and drag in your CSV file.

  4. Choose Insert new sheet(s) when prompted.

Step 2: Select Your Data

  1. Click on the tab with your imported data.

  2. Select all your data by clicking the top-left corner or pressing Ctrl+A (Windows) or Cmd+A (Mac).

Step 3: Create a Pivot Table

  1. Click Insert > Pivot Table.

  2. Choose New sheet when asked where to place the pivot table.

Step 4: Set Up Your Pivot Table

  • Under Rows, add the Chariot field that you are looking to summarize (For instance, if you are analyzing Lead Sources, use the Source field as your Row).

  • Under Values, add the numerical value from Chariot that you want to quantify in the pivot table:

    • Example: Total Actual Charges or Total Estimated Charges

Optional: Add Filters

  • Under Filters, add Total Travel Miles, Total Weight, or Total Cubic Feet to compare which sources are driving your moves with the longest distance or largest weight/volume. You can also Filter by Conversion Rate.

Using ChatGPT

  • 1. Export your report from Chariot as a CSV file.

  • 2. Open ChatGPT (web or app).

  • 3. Upload your CSV file to the chat.

  • 4. Describe what you want:

    • “Can you create a pivot table showing total revenue by Source?”

  • 5. Review the output:

    • ChatGPT will provide a table or suggest a summary.

  • 6. Refine if needed:

    • “Filter out sources with no revenue” or “Show average revenue per Source.”

  • 7. Copy the results into Google Sheets or Excel if you want to save or share them.
