How Can I Make Variable Amount Payments with Chexy?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Currently, Chexy's payments are designed to work with fixed amounts. However, I'd like to share a few workarounds that might help:

➡️ Option 1:

If you know the amount in advance, you can set up multiple custom payments using this guide> Can I make multiple custom payments?

➡️ Option 2: Update the amount before each charge:

As our recommendation, we would suggest that you update your payment amount in Chexy to the most up-to-date amount one business day prior to your charge date (i.e. 5 business days before the payment due date). This way, you will be charged for the correct amount for the upcoming charge date.

➡️ Option 3: Set up one-time payments:

If you know the amount a few days before your due date, you can also set up a one-time payment each month for this payee with the specific amount you're expecting them to withdraw.

➡️ Option 4: (Only if this is a PAD payment)- Set the payment to an estimated average amount:

Our system can then automatically adjust by either refunding the difference or charging the remaining balance, as long as the discrepancy isn’t too large. If the discrepancy is significant, you may need to reach out to us for further assistance. Please note that this only works if this is a Pre-Authorized Debit payment and would not work for E-transfer/Bill Pay.

Please note that our product isn’t currently designed to support variable amounts. These are workarounds, so you may need to contact support for assistance, as these payments may not be as seamless. That said, we do have this as a feature on our roadmap—though we don't have a timeline just yet.
