PAD Deficits and Auto-Charge

Learn how Chexy handles a PAD discrepancy through auto-charge, what PAD in review means when a deficit is detected, and how to resolve PAD discrepancies over $500 with Chexy Support.

PAD auto-charges

If a payment to your payee comes out for more than the amount you originally set, this is considered a PAD discrepancy and we've got you covered. Here's how our auto-charge works when a PAD discrepancy occurs and what to expect.

What is the auto-charge?

When you set up a payment, you enter an estimated amount that you expect to be withdrawn. If the actual withdrawal from your payee turns out to be higher than what you entered, this triggers a PAD discrepancy and we'll automatically charge your card on file to cover that difference — up to $500.

Example:

  1. You've set up a utilities payment for $50.

  2. Your payee withdraws $55.23.

  3. Your card will automatically be charged $5.23 to cover the difference.

What's the maximum auto-charge amount?

We'll cover PAD discrepancies of up to $500 per transaction. If the PAD discrepancy exceeds $500, the charge will not be automatically covered and you will need to reach out to our Support team to take action manually. In this case, you will be notified via email and in your account, and your payment will remain in a PAD in review status until it is resolved.

Will I be notified of an auto-charge?

Yes! Whenever an auto-charge occurs due to a PAD discrepancy, you'll receive a notification so you always know what's happening with your account.

How many attempts will there be for an auto-charge?

There will be one attempt to auto-charge the PAD discrepancy amount. To avoid any issues, please make sure your card on file is valid and has sufficient funds.

If the auto-charge fails for any reason, your payment will remain as PAD in review and you will need to reach out to our Support team to resolve this manually.
