Your username is usually your email address, but as an admin, it doesn't have to be. Perhaps you have a new email address and want your username to match it, or you want to change it for other reasons.
You technically don't edit or change your username. You will create a new one and delete the old one.
Here's how to do it if you are a system administrator.
How an Administrator Changes Their Username
While logged in with your current username, go to My Account, Admin Site Users.
Click on the green button "Add New Admin Site User."
Type in the username you desire. It can be your new email address or anything unique from our thousands of other users.
Add your email address in the "Email" field. We use it for password resets.
Select your Admin Access Level.
Leave the two Mobile App dropdowns blank for now (if you use the app).
Save.
We will send you an email to activate your new user account. Now, log out of Chronotek and follow these steps to remove your old user account:
How to Remove Your Old User Account
Log in with your new user account.
Go to My Account, Admin Site Users.
Click on your "old" user account.
Is your name in the Mobile App employee dropdown?
If so, click the dropdown and click into the blank space just below your name (see screenshot below).
Change the Mobile Access Level dropdown to No Mobile Access.
Save. This disconnects your "old" user account from the app. Don't worry; we will connect you to the app with your new user account soon.
Click into this "old" user account again from the user's list.
Click the green delete button to delete your old user account.
Whoo! We're almost done, but now we need to reconnect you to the mobile app.
How to Reconnect the Mobile App
In Admin Site Users, click on your new user account.
In the Mobile App Employee dropdown, set it to you.
Set the Mobile Access Level.
Save.
Yes, that's a lot of steps, but changing usernames affects your system security, and we take that very seriously.
If you are not an admin and want to change usernames, pass this article along to your admin, and they can do it for you.
