In addition to the 800+ cookbooks included in the subscription, ckbk also offers a small number of a la carte titles. These are iconic cookbooks which are not available under a subscription model, due to publisher policies, but are available to ckbk users in return for a one off payment of the e-book price.

You can select whether or not you wish to see recipes from a la carte books which you do not own on search results via the user settings page.
