Clinician Nexus is designed to help you, as a student, manage your clinical rotations from start to finish. The rotation applications available in Clinician Nexus are created and posted by clinical site coordinators.

After reading this article you will be able to...

  • Search for Rotations

  • Apply for Rotations

  • Application Acceptance, Waitlist, or Closure

  • Complete Onboarding Steps

  • Communicate in Clinician Nexus

Before Applying

Before applying to rotations, be sure your school, student discipline, and year of study are up to date. These fields determine which rotations you are eligible to apply for. To view/edit this data:

  • Click the Account (profile picture) icon from the left navigation menu

  • You will automatically be directed to the Edit my profile page

  • If you need to change your school, click the trash can icon to delete the existing school and re-add your role

  • You can select/edit your discipline and year of study under the About me section.

  • Click Save changes.

Search for Rotations

  • Click Find Clinical Experiences on the left navigation menu

  • Enter search criteria and/or filter to find rotations

  • You can also use the map to zoom in/out to find rotations by location.

  • From the search results, click on rotations to learn more about them.

Apply for Rotations

  • To apply for a rotation, click Start application.

  • Complete the Schedule, Learning objectives, and Application steps. You can click on each section to expand or collapse it to view more or less content.

  • Click Save changes at the bottom of your screen to save your work, and return to the application at a later time. To return to your application, click on the rotation card displayed on the Rotations page.

  • Once everything is complete, click Save and submit request to submit your application to the clinical site.

  • If you no longer want to continue your rotation application, click Cancel rotation.

Once you submit your application, your rotation will automatically transition from Unsubmitted status to Pending application verification or Pending Clinical site status:

Application Acceptance, Waitlist, or Closure

Your application will then be reviewed by clinical site coordinators. Keep an eye out for an email informing if your application has been accepted, waitlisted, or closed. Your rotation will move statuses on the rotations page as actions are taken.

  • If your application is accepted, the rotation will automatically transition from Pending clinical site to Onboarding on your Rotations page.

  • If your application is waitlisted, the rotation will move from Pending clinical site to Waitlisted on your Rotations page.

  • If your application is closed, the rotation will move from Pending clinical site to Closed on your Rotations page.

Complete Onboarding Steps

If your rotation is accepted, your rotation will move into Onboarding status. This means there are site-specific onboarding steps to complete.

To view and complete all onboarding steps:

  • Click on the rotation card to open the rotation details window.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the window to access onboarding steps requiring completed.

Note: Sometimes individual onboarding steps will need to be completed by your school or clinical site coordinator. If that step hasn't been completed yet, your rotation will remain in Onboarding status until the coordinator has completed it.

Once these steps are complete and/or verified, your rotation will move into Ready status.
