Connecting QuickBooks Online

How to connect your QuickBooks Online account to Clockwork

Connecting QuickBooks Online

Connecting QuickBooks Online to Clockwork is quick and takes just a few minutes. Once connected, Clockwork will automatically import your financial data and build your Financial Model, Cash Flow Forecast, and Metrics.

Before you start

  • You'll need admin-level credentials in QuickBooks Online to authorize the connection. Standard user accounts won't have the permissions needed.

  • Make sure you're connecting the correct company file if you manage more than one QBO account.

How to connect

  1. Log in to your Clockwork account. If you're adding a new company, click + Add Company from the company selector in the top left.

  2. Enter your company name and click Next.

  3. Select QuickBooks Online from the list of integration options.

  4. You'll be redirected to Intuit's login page. Sign in with your QuickBooks admin credentials.

  5. Select the QBO company you want to connect and click Connect.

  6. You'll be redirected back to Clockwork. The initial data import will begin automatically — this typically takes a few minutes depending on how much historical data you have.

What happens during the initial import?

Clockwork pulls up to 3 years of financial history from QuickBooks and uses it to:

  • Build your Financial Model with historical actuals and an AI-generated baseline forecast

  • Generate your Cash Flow Forecast, including invoice and bill timing learned from your transaction history

  • Calculate your Metrics dashboard with key business KPIs

You'll get a notification when your account is ready. Most accounts are live within a few minutes.

Ongoing sync

After the initial import, Clockwork automatically syncs with QuickBooks Online approximately once per hour. This means your models and metrics always reflect your latest data without any manual effort on your part.

If you ever need to trigger a manual sync, you can do so from Settings → Connected Data.

Disconnecting or reconnecting QBO

If you need to disconnect or reconnect your QuickBooks integration — for example, if you've switched to a new QBO account — you can manage this from Settings → Connected Data. Note that only the Master Admin can disconnect the accounting software integration.
