Cannot See Text I'm Typing on iPhone (Keyboard Hides Message Box)

If the iPhone keyboard covers your message text in the CoachRx chat or notes field so you cannot read what you are typing, here are the workarounds while we investigate, plus how to report it so we can fix it.

Some iPhone users have reported that when they tap into the chat or notes box on the CoachRx mobile app, the on-screen keyboard rises up and covers the text they are typing. You hear yourself typing but cannot see the characters you are writing, which leads to typos and frustration.

We have an active engineering investigation into this on iOS. While we work on the permanent fix, here is what to try and how to report it so we can solve it for you.

Workarounds while we investigate

  1. Force quit and reopen the app. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, swipe the CoachRx card off the top, then reopen CoachRx. The text field usually re-anchors correctly after a fresh open.

  2. Rotate your phone briefly. Turn your phone landscape, then back to portrait. This forces the layout to recalculate and the text box typically stays above the keyboard after the rotation.

  3. Confirm you are on the latest CoachRx app version. Open the App Store, search for CoachRx, and tap Update if it is offered. We have shipped multiple keyboard layout fixes recently and one of them may resolve your case.

  4. Confirm your iOS is up to date. Settings > General > Software Update. We have seen this regression most often on combinations of older app versions with the newest iOS.

  5. Type into Notes first, then paste. If you need to send a long message right now, draft it in the iPhone Notes app, then long-press in the CoachRx text box and tap Paste. Not elegant, but it gets the message sent without losing what you wrote.

  6. Disable predictive text temporarily. Settings > General > Keyboard > toggle Predictive off. A handful of users have reported this clears the issue when the keyboard suggestion bar is the part that is cropping the text.

Where this happens most

  • The chat / messaging screen with your coach.

  • The notes field inside a workout (especially when adding a note to a completed exercise).

  • The reply box on a check-in or daily question.

If the issue is happening somewhere else inside the app, please tell us so we can reproduce it.

How to report it so we can fix it for you

  • Your iPhone model (for example, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 17, iPhone SE).

  • Your iOS version (Settings > General > About > iOS Version).

  • The CoachRx app version (CoachRx app > Settings > About).

  • Where in the app it happens (chat, workout notes, check-in reply, etc.).

  • A screen recording if possible. From Control Center, tap the screen recording icon, repro the issue, then stop the recording and attach the video file.

A short screen recording is the single most useful thing you can send. It tells our engineers exactly which iOS rendering path is misbehaving on your device.

Coaches: If a client tells you they are hitting this issue, point them to this article and ask them to email support with the version details above. The more reports we have with phone model and iOS version, the faster we can pin down the root cause.
