About MultiChoice content

The multichoice content block allows you to present a question/prompt with a set list of options for a user to respond with. It differs from a multiselect content type by restricting the user to choose just one option at once rather than being limited to a single selection.

The multichoice content block can display options to the user in 10 different formats:

  • Default: Shows options in a regular list format, only text

  • Icon Select: Presents options with both text and an icon

  • Icon Only Select: Shows only icons for options, with no text to go with them

  • Grid Icon Select: Options are shown in a grid layout with icons and text

  • Grid Icon Only Select: Options are shown in a grid layout with icons only, no text

  • Horizontal Slider: Options are shown on a horizontal slider

  • Vertical Slider: Options are shown on a vertical slider

  • Tag Cloud: Options are displayed as tags in a grouping on the page

  • Checkbox: Shows options with checkboxes for selection

  • Dropdown: Options are displayed in a dropdown menu

How to use it

To use this content type, simply:

  1. Create a new content block by clicking the Create new content block button

  2. Assign a Data Label to the content block

  3. Select MULTICHOICE as the content type

  4. Fill in the user-facing label for this content type (this is the label that the user will see and read, usually in a multiple-choice content type this acts as the question or prompt)

  5. Choose how you’d like your options to be displayed to the user by selecting a display option from the drop-down menu (see above for a description of each option available)

  6. Add response options by giving each one a data label, a user-facing label, and an icon (if using)

  7. If this is part of a scored survey, you will need to assign a score to any options that it may apply to

  8. Click Save Changes
