If you used CoGrader 1.0, you may remember the “Extra Instructions” field when generating a rubric. In CoGrader 2.0, this feature has been replaced with a more dynamic and powerful chat interface that allows you to provide detailed guidance to CoGrader, even after grading has been done.
When Can I Add Instructions?
You can add instructions after the initial grading is complete. This helps ensure CoGrader has context to adjust its feedback based on your preferences or classroom-specific needs.
Step-by-Step Guide
Import or Create Your Rubric
Start your assignment as usual by importing your school rubric or using the AI to generate one.
Customize grading parameters and levels if needed.
Complete the First Round of Grading
Grade at least one submission. Once that’s done, the chat option becomes visible in the assignment workspace (bottom-right).
Use the Chat to Add Instructions
Find the chat section at the bottom right of the grading review page.
Type your additional instructions and send, e.g.:
"Use Gen Alpha slang."
Apply to All Submissions
Once your revised feedback looks good:
Click “Apply”.
You’ll see a pop-up:
“Apply to Current” and “Apply to multiple”
➤ Choose “Apply to current” to update just that particular essay.
➤ Choose “Apply to multiple” to update all graded essays at once. This will regrade using the new guidance.
💡Note: You can still make edits manually per student if needed after applying to all.
