Update a Student Name

If you need to correct or update a student’s name in CoGrader, you can do this directly from the assignment dashboard:

  1. Go to the assignment where the student’s work is listed.

  2. Find the student’s submission in the Submissions tab.

  3. Click the three dots on the right side of their submission.

  4. Select Change student name.

  5. Enter the updated name and save your changes.

Update a Class/Assignment Name

This will update the student’s name for that submission and across your grading view.

Currently, CoGrader does not support renaming a class after it has been created. However, you can update a class name by deleting and recreating the class. The method you follow depends on how the class was added to CoGrader.

Option 1: Class Created Manually or via Upload

If the class was created directly in CoGrader (manually or via file upload):

  1. Delete all assignments inside the class.

    • Once all assignments are removed, the class will be deleted automatically.

  2. Create a new class with the updated name.

  3. To rename specific assignments, you can delete assignments and re-add them with the desired name.

Option 2: Class/Assignment Imported from Google Classroom

If the class/assignment came from Google Classroom:

  1. Rename the class/assignment in Google Classroom first.

    • This change won’t sync to CoGrader automatically.

  2. Delete the original class/assignment from CoGrader.

    • You’ll need to remove all its assignments to trigger deletion.

  3. Re-import the class into CoGrader after renaming it in Google Classroom.

If the name needs to be changed without deleting the class, please feel free to contact us. Our team will make the necessary manual edits if you wish.
