To provide high-quality grading and feedback, CoGrader uses a trusted third-party AI platform. Here's how that works and what it means for data privacy.

Our AI Partner

CoGrader currently uses OpenAI OpCo, LLC to support its grading engine. This is the only third-party AI platform we use.

We share only anonymized information with OpenAI, including:

  • Assignment questions

  • Rubric criteria

  • Student answers

We do not send any personal identifying information. The data is used solely to generate feedback and scores, and never for advertising, profiling, or unrelated use.

You can read OpenAI’s privacy policy here.

What about data privacy?

We take data privacy seriously and follow these protections:

  • Any data shared with OpenAI is stripped of names, IDs, and personal identifiers.

  • We comply with FERPA, COPPA, and other U.S. education privacy laws.

  • Our service providers, including OpenAI, are contractually required to maintain the security and confidentiality of data.

We also may share aggregated, anonymized data for research or statistical purposes, but that data cannot be traced back to any individual.

If you have specific questions about how your data is handled, feel free to contact us at privacy@cograder.com or read our full Privacy Policy.
