Here is a video to show you how to do this: handwritten work guide.

Follow these simple steps to upload and grade handwritten work:

Overview

  1. Scan or photograph the handwritten work (or have your students do it)

  2. Go to your assignment in CoGrader

  3. Click "Import from Google Drive" or "Upload Files" to upload directly from your computer

  4. Select and upload the scanned/photographed files

  5. Enjoy delightful grading!

Detailed Steps

Step 1: Prepare the Handwritten Work

  • Scan the handwritten assignments using a scanner; if you don't have access to one, you can use a smartphone app like Adobe Scan or Microsoft Office Lens or Google Drive.

  • Alternatively, take clear, well-lit photographs of the handwritten pages.

  • Save the files as PDFs or image files if single page essay (JPG, PNG). If your essays have several pages, combine them into a single pdf (click here to see how).

Step 2: Access Your Assignment

  • Log in to your CoGrader account.

  • Navigate to the assignment where you want to upload the handwritten work.

Step 3: Add Submissions

  • Click "Import from Google Drive" or "Upload Files" to upload directly from your computer, if you've saved the scanned files or images/photographs there.

  • Select the folder containing your scanned handwritten assignments and choose the files you want to upload.

Step 4: Enjoy delightful grading

  • Once the files are uploaded, CoGrader will process them.

  • You can then start grading the handwritten work using your rubric, just like you would with typed assignments.

Tips for Best Results

  • Ensure scans or photos are clear and legible.

  • Use a consistent file naming convention to easily identify student submissions.

  • If a submission has multiple pages, combine them into a single PDF before uploading.

  • Supported File Types: for handwritten work, CoGrader supports PDF and, if single page, JPG/JPEG and PNG.
