Save or Print is the default setting. To personalize these options for your organization, navigate to Settings > Intake Download and select the Save or Print radio button.
Complete the setup according to the steps below.
Download Options
These include the file format options available within the system for download of a Direct message, or fax, and each attachment.
XDS-SD/CDA – The XDS-SD/CDA download option is used for integration with EMRs that are able to automatically import documents formatted in the XDS-SD or CDA structure. If your EMR has been certified for Meaningful Use Stage 1 or higher, it is likely your EMR is able to handle this format. Please confirm with your EMR vendor.
Standard Download – The Standard option is used for download of a message, Direct message, or fax, and the associated attachments to a standardized folder/file structure either to PDF or in the native format received. Upon selection of Standard Download, you will then select the option to download in a Patient Folder structure or to a single network share.
Enable Download From Browser – Check this to allow users to download attachments as PDFs without installing any programs.
File Location Options
You can save attachments to a Patient Folder or a Single Directory.
The Patient Folder option downloads to a Patient Folder (named with patient name, patient ID, DOB and patient gender) with the Direct message, or fax, and attachments stored underneath in a standardized file naming method (by Document Type and Document Date) for long term storage or for import into an external system, such as an EMR.
Attachment saved to a Patient Folder
By selecting the Enable Visit Directory, a subdirectory is created underneath the Patient Folder for each Visit or Date of Service. The Direct message, or fax, and associated attachments are then filed under the appropriate Visit Date folder.
Attachments saved to a Patient Folder Visit Directory
The Single Directory option downloads to a single network folder for all Direct messages, or faxes, for all patients and the associated attachments. Each file is named with the appropriate patient and document type information for import into an external system, such as an EMR.

Network Location
By default, upon first download of an attachment, a Consensus folder will be created in the C drive if no other location has been designated.
Directory - Enter the network path where the files should be downloaded. Please ensure all users have appropriate access to read and write files.
Non-Patient Directory - Optional - Select the checkbox to enable download to a non-patient level folder. This feature allows for download of non-patient fax messages, uploaded batches or triaged messages where there would be no indexing to a patient record. These downloads will not require entry of patient or document details. Enter the network path where the non-patient files should be downloaded. Please ensure all users have appropriate access to read and write files.
