Using the "Draft Email" Feature

Updated this week

The "Draft Email" link in Contented allows you to quickly share your output content via email. When clicked, it opens a new draft email with the content pre-populated in the body and a blank recipient field.

If you are running into issues, try the changes below to get your Contented to email workflow running smoothly.

Draft email won't open?

If you're using Chrome or Gmail:

  • Enable pop-ups: Some users may need to allow pop-ups for your site. If the email draft doesn't open, check if Chrome is blocking pop-ups by looking for a blocked pop-up icon in the address bar

  • Configure protocol handlers:

    • Go to chrome://settings/handlers in your address bar

    • Make sure "Allow sites to ask to become default handlers for protocols" is turned ON

  • Check the "Blocked" section and ensure your email service (like mail.google.com) is not blocked

  • If using Gmail: Open Gmail in Chrome, click the diamond icon in the address bar, and select "Allow" when asked to handle email links

Draft email opens in the wrong application?

The "Send Email" link uses your computer's default email client. To change which email application opens:

Windows:

  1. Open Settings (press Windows + I)

  2. Go to Apps > Default apps

  3. Search for your preferred email software or scroll to find it

  4. Click your email app, then click the button under "MAILTO"

  5. Select your email client from the list and click OK

Mac:

  1. Open the Mail app

  2. Go to Mail menu > Settings (or Preferences)

  3. Click the "General" tab

  4. Select your preferred email software from the "Default email reader" dropdown
