If you use Outlook as your primary email client, you'll need to tell your operating system to open Outlook whenever a mailto: link is clicked โ including when you click an email link in Courted. Here's how to do that on both Windows and Mac.
Note: This setup works with the Outlook desktop app. If you're using the web version of Outlook (outlook.com) in a browser, please see this article for setting up Outlook on Chrome as your default mail app.
๐ฅ๏ธ On a PC (Windows):
Open Default Apps by searching for it in the Start menu.
In the Windows Settings app, on the Default apps page, do one of the following:
In Windows 10:
Go to Email.
Select the current app listed.
Under Choose an app, select Outlook.
In Windows 11:
Under Set a default for a file type or link type, search for 'mailto.'
Click on the Mail icon that pops up
Set the default mail app to Outlook
๐ On a Mac:
1. Open the Mail app from your Applications folder. In the top menu, go to Mail โ Settings. Under the General tab, find "Default email reader" and select Microsoft Outlook from the dropdown. If Outlook doesn't appear in the list, click Select and browse to find Microsoft Outlook in your Applications folder.
2. Go to the upper righthand corner and select Mail > Settings
3. Under the General tab, in Default email reader, select Microsoft Outlook. If you don't see it in the dropdown, click Select and search for Microsoft Outlook within your applications.
