INTRODUCTION
Feature Summary: Create a sales tax rate that can be applied to charges across CourtReserve.
Use Cases: Creating a tax rate does not apply it anywhere by itself - system users must configure tax settings separately for each item type below:
Apply tax to POS items
Apply tax to membership plans
Apply tax to reservation types
Apply tax to lesson types
Apply tax to event categories
Apply tax to packages
SETUP REQUIREMENTS
Log in to the admin dashboard.
Click Settings > Billing Settings > Taxes.
Click Create Tax Rate.
On the new page:
Fill in the form (see below).
Click Save Changes.
Tax Rate Name - Enter a unique name for the tax rate. This name appears throughout the platform in tax rate drop-down menus.
Default For Misc. Fee(s) - If checked, this tax rate becomes the default for any charge with the Misc. Fee tag. The default setting is not checked.
Percent - Enter the sales tax percentage rate.
Tax Option - Click the field and select how the tax should apply to the item price.
Add Tax To Item Price - Tax is calculated and added to the item price at checkout.
Include Tax Item Price - The item price already includes tax.
For example: with a 6.875% sales tax on a Point of Sale item, a $10 item either rings up as $10.69 with tax added at checkout, or $10.00 if the tax is already included in the item price.
Reviewing the Tax Rates Table
After saving a tax rate, CourtReserve adds a row to the Tax Rates table. Click Edit to update a tax rate or Delete to remove it from the platform.
Note: Click Audit Log from the Tax Rates table or from the Edit modal to view a history of changes made to tax rates, including who made the change and when. The log lists the Action Type (create or edit), Entity Type, Action By, Created On date and time, Name of the tax rate, and a Description of what changed.
Includes vs. Excludes Tax
If the system user selects the Add Tax to Item Price option, CourtReserve shows prices and displays the tag + Tax (see screenshot below).
If a system user assigns a tax to a product or service (e.g. packages) and selects the Include Tax Item Price option, CourtReserve shows prices and displays the tag includes Tax (see screenshot below).
If a system user does not assign a tax to a product or service, CourtReserve shows prices without any reference to taxes (see screenshot below).
